Technical Requirements
The technical assignment included creating a fully responsive website with a modern and minimalistic design. The focus was on user-centered design, ensuring that the journey from learning about the retreat to making a booking was seamless. High-quality imagery, persuasive content, and a well-structured layout were essential to conveying the sense of calm and escape that this retreat offers.
Problem/Solution
The main problem I addressed was the challenge users face in finding an affordable, high-quality, and transformative yoga retreat. Many people interested in such experiences struggle with unclear pricing, lack of trust in retreat providers, and difficulty understanding what’s included in the package. To solve this, I designed a clear and structured layout that presents the retreat’s benefits, pricing, and package details in a way that is both visually appealing and easy to digest. The inclusion of FAQs, testimonials, and a detailed program overview helps build trust and guide users toward making a booking decision.
Work Process:
The work process began with research and competitor analysis to understand what similar retreats offer and what gaps exist in the market. I then created wireframes, testing different structures for the best user flow. Once the wireframes were finalized, I moved on to UI design, focusing on an aesthetic that would evoke relaxation and connection to nature. The design phase was followed by prototyping, user testing, and final refinements before development.
My Role
As the lead designer, I was responsible for UX research, wireframing, UI design, and final prototyping. I ensured that every design decision was data-driven, optimizing for usability and aesthetic appeal. My goal was to create a website that not only looks beautiful but also converts visitors into retreat participants.
Design Process
The design process followed a user-centered approach, starting with defining the target audience and their needs. From there, I created mood boards and style guides to maintain visual consistency. After wireframing, I developed high-fidelity designs that were tested with users to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
Design Strategy
The design strategy focused on clarity, trust, and emotional connection. To achieve this, I used large, high-quality images that capture the essence of the retreat experience, a calm and neutral color palette, and a clean layout that eliminates distractions. I prioritized usability by ensuring that key information was easy to find and that the booking process was streamlined.
User Research
User research was crucial in shaping the design. I conducted interviews and surveys to understand what motivates people to attend yoga retreats and what concerns they have before booking. This helped me tailor the content and structure of the site to address common pain points.
User Persona
The user persona I designed for was a wellness-conscious individual, typically aged 25-45, looking for an escape from stress and a way to reconnect with themselves. They value holistic health, personal growth, and nature. They are willing to invest in a retreat but need to feel confident about their decision before making a booking.
Empathy Map
The empathy map focused on understanding the user's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Users often feel overwhelmed by too many choices and skeptical about retreat quality. They think about whether the retreat will be worth the investment and whether it will truly help them relax and reset. They seek reassurance through testimonials, clear information, and visually appealing presentation.
Information Architecture
The information architecture was structured to guide the user through a logical journey: introduction to the retreat, benefits, package details, pricing, testimonials, FAQs, and an easy-to-find booking button.
User Flow
The user flow was designed to be as smooth as possible. A visitor arrives on the homepage, is immediately drawn in by compelling imagery and a clear headline, scrolls to discover retreat details, reads about the benefits, checks pricing, and, if interested, proceeds to booking. The site ensures they always have the option to return to the booking button without having to scroll too much.
UX Research Results
The UX design focused on accessibility, clarity, and engagement. Every element, from typography to button placement, was chosen to create an intuitive and enjoyable browsing experience. I applied best practices in UX writing to ensure that the text was both informative and persuasive.
The results of the UX research confirmed that users needed clear pricing, strong visual storytelling, and easy navigation. Testing the prototype with potential users helped refine the booking process and ensure that all information was easy to find.
How I Applied UX Research
to UI Design a Project
I successfully applied all the insights gathered from UX research to create a UI that is both visually compelling and highly functional. The UI design incorporates a modern yet peaceful aesthetic, with a soft color palette inspired by nature, elegant typography, and spacious layouts that allow the content to breathe. The use of high-quality images and subtle animations enhances the immersive experience. The final website successfully captures the essence of the retreat, making it easy for users to understand what they will experience and encouraging them to book. The site’s visual harmony and intuitive navigation make it a pleasure to explore.
Finaly Thouts
Reflecting on my work, I am proud of how UX research directly influenced the UI choices, ensuring that the design is both beautiful and practical. The transformation from UI kit to final site was seamless, and the result is a polished, high-converting platform. Working on this project was incredibly fulfilling, as it allowed me to create a space that inspires relaxation, connection, and transformation—mirroring the real-life retreat experience.
